Real Talk Tuesdays: Stupid rules

Folks. If you have a rule (or a law) that is severly underwritten and/or outdated - don't be afraid to call for change. Some of these are downright silly (did you know that in Winona Lake, Wisconsin it's illegal to eat ice cream at a counter on Sundays?). This week in California, Harbor City Narbonne high school girls basketball team was ousted from their state tournament for wearing pink-infused uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness. The powers that be stated "Uniform colors may only be a combination of the official school colors". What a crock of shit. Read the whole story here. Let's do better, humans.

Madhouse Mondays: Blackbird Studio

Spent the weekend with two of my closest friends making music at Blackbird Studio in Nashville. Amazing experience. Truly a magical place.

Throwback Thursdays: Queen

The sound of Queen records is something I remember being drawn to as a youngster. The production. The tones. The sounds that Brian May got from his Red Special (a guitar he custom built with his father) are amazing. Then there's Freddy Mercury, of course. We take these tunes for granted because they've been with us so long but take a moment and just listen to this record.

Real Talk Tuesdays: NBA

Every year around this time my college basketball hangover swells to it's peak and I'm desperate enough to watch a few NBA games. During the regular season I'm nowhere to be found but by the time the conference finals arrive I'm usually starved for competition and the players are actually playing some defense. Growing up in Indiana I saw scores of Pacer games. I watched Michael, Magic, Larry, Ewing, even Shaq as a rookie. So to see the Pacers in the hunt is nostalgic for me. Chances are I'll be tuning in tonight to see if they can take a 2 game lead over the villainous Heat
