Feelin' like ass. Taking the day off.

Another year, another fun-filled performance. This time my band picked up a few extra key players and tackled Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. It's an idea that me and Brandon T. Washington have been kicking around for a few years. When my bass player Ant Gravino heard me pitch it, he was all in. Enthusiastically. Ant only owns a few hip-hop albums but The Chronic and Doggystyle are two of his favorites. Drummer Ian Shepherd was ready to tackle the MPC beats.  So I picked the songs, made the set and recruited Jesse Brown on keys, Mike Ingram on guitar and Ci Ci Stewart on backing vocals. My wife and her buddy Andrew Schiver have launched a brand new podcast called You Big Dumb Idiot. The idea is to have a special guest each week and discuss topics that the well-meaning hosts are not well versed in. Two episodes in and I'm already giving this thing my endorsement. Full disclosure, I wrote the theme song but did so without hearing any of it first. Throw this on - it'll brighten your morning.

I don't constantly blog about my family. We all have our own outlets and interests. We're a lucky bunch, really. But today is my wife's 30th birthday and that's worth celebrating. If you know her, then you know what a blessing she is - to her friends, to lovers of good literature, to the theatre community. She's my best friend and I'm so happy that we're gonna grow old together.
