Throwback Thursdays: Queen

The sound of Queen records is something I remember being drawn to as a youngster. The production. The tones. The sounds that Brian May got from his Red Special (a guitar he custom built with his father) are amazing. Then there's Freddy Mercury, of course. We take these tunes for granted because they've been with us so long but take a moment and just listen to this record.

Way Gone Wednesdays: Muse

Last night I was watching a bit of Queen Rock Montreal - I left the room for a few minutes and when I returned this video was playing. Not much a Muse fan but I wish every music video were this outrageous.

Throwback Thursdays: Grandmaster Flash

In 1984 I bought a K-tel record called Breakdance.  I played the mess out of it.  It kicked off with this incredible Grandmaster Flash mashup which features breaks from Incredible Bongo Band (Apache) , Chic (Good Times), Blondie (Rapture), Queen (Another One Bites The Dust), Sugarhill Gang (8th Wonder), Furious Five (Birthday Party) and Spoonie Gee (Monster Jam).  Epic.  While in Boston last summer, I found this on vinyl and scooped it up right away.  Dig.

Real Talk Tuesdays:  Marriage

Some folks marry because they get knocked up.  Others marry their high school sweethearts not knowing just how much growing they have ahead of them.  Still others marry for money or to meet the expectations of their families.  I married my best friend.  Can't tell you how good that feels.
