Throwback Thursdays: Spoonie Gee

From 1980, it's self-proclaimed Godfather of Rap, Spoonie Gee featuring The Sequence. Funky fresh vibes, y'all.

Throwback Thursdays: Spoonie Gee & The Treacherous Three

A founding member of The Treacherous Three, Spoonie Gee left to pursue a solo career (and was replaced by Special K). He came back to his old crew to record this rapid fire old school joint, "New Rap Language". Dig.

Throwback Thursdays: Grandmaster Flash

In 1984 I bought a K-tel record called Breakdance.  I played the mess out of it.  It kicked off with this incredible Grandmaster Flash mashup which features breaks from Incredible Bongo Band (Apache) , Chic (Good Times), Blondie (Rapture), Queen (Another One Bites The Dust), Sugarhill Gang (8th Wonder), Furious Five (Birthday Party) and Spoonie Gee (Monster Jam).  Epic.  While in Boston last summer, I found this on vinyl and scooped it up right away.  Dig.
