Feel Good Fridays: Of Montreal
No one person (or band) in modern music embodies the experimental spirit of The Beatles like Kevin Barnes. A bold statement, but Barnes (through his conglomerate Of Montreal) is able to test boundries while remaining so infectiously pop. It's beautiful. A new track called "Wintered Debts" leaked this week. Check out this 7 1/2 minute opus and tell me I'm wrong.
Throwback Thursdays: Old School Vol. 1
I hate to toot my own horn but I listened to this mix again yesterday and it still gets me. These were my favorite cuts from all of the hip-hop compilations I had on cassette as a youngster. Still know all the words. C'mon - let's get down.
Throwback Thursdays: Boogie Boys
The Boogie Boys only landed one major hit in raps early days - a little ditty that I found via Raps Greatest Hits called, "A Fly Girl" (1985). This is femme-worship at it's finest.
I like pretty hair but I also know
Girls look fly in Kangols
Feel Good Fridays: Space Police
The chill of jack-o-latern season is upon us. The time for outdoor grilling is coming to a close. To send the season off in style we have an uber-hip mix from C-U's own Space Police. Dig it.
Feel Good Fridays: Lee Fields
Lee Fields has been releasing soul music for 40 years but he still remains under the radar. Do yourself a favor and check him out. Feels good.
