A Life Less Superficial, or Why I'm Quitting Social Networking
Friendster gave way to Myspace.....Myspace was mowed over by Facebook. There will always be someone trying to improve on this concept but for artists, I think that you get lost in the shuffle no matter the host. I wanted to have a site dedicated to my work as a musician. A place where friends, fans, and family could come to check in on me without all of the silly distractions. I wanted to be able to promote my shows in a proper place without getting lost in a sea of weekly "event invitations". And thanks to the work of the lovely and talented Lindsey J. Markel (soon to be Lindsey J. Gates-Markel), I have just that. Enjoy.
I Weave a Web of Words so Intricately that the English Dictionary Lacks an Adjective to Fit Me
It's interesting to me that when you play higher-profile shows, the anticipation, the myths, and the legends rarely match up with the realities. But sharing a bill with a true hero is a special kind of glorious. I recently played a set with my man S.words opening for Brother Ali. Ali easily holds a spot in my top 10 favorite MCs of all time, but that night, he delivered quite possibly the best live set I've ever seen. Boombaye.

Back in early '06, Lorenzo Goetz was touring the south and I was asked by Playback:stl magazine to keep a diary of that tour.
