Madhouse Mondays: Eddie Arnold
My son is on summer vacation and I've been waking him up every morning by singing a (ridiculously) boisterous song. Last weeks highlights included The B-52s' "Rock Lobster" and Whitney Houston's rendition of "I Will Always Love You". This morning, it was Eddie Arnold's "The Cattle Call".
Real Talk Tuesdays: Mr. Randy Watson
Coming to America was the first rated R movie I ever saw. It remains one of my favorite comedies today. Eddie Murphy has since stopped making good movies, Arsenio Hall has meanwhile proven little worth and Whitney Houston is a mess (but she's getting help). Despite all that, this scene and this song bring you the following words of wisdom:
I believe the children are our future
teach them well and let them lead the way
show them all the beauty they possess inside
Go hug your kids.
