Gummy Soul's own Amerigo Gazaway has mashed up Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) with Marvin Gaye for his "Soul Mates" series. Genius. This feels good.

I turned 40 this weekend. That's not a number that bothers me. Most of my heros are 40. Mos Def, Slug, Madlib, Nas. All of those cats are still kickin' up dust and so am I. I was surrounded by close friends and a lot of love this weekend. I'm truly blessed. 

DJ Preservation reworked Mos Def's 2009 effor The Ecstatic. Even though we have to call him Yassin Bey now - this still works. Dig it.

DJ Preservation has taken the Mos Def instant classic "Quiet Dog Bite Hard" from his 2009 release, The Estatic - and given it new life. Easily one of my favorite Mos Def tunes (or do I have to call him Yasiin Bey now?) so I listened with reservations but it still grooves. Dig.
