Throwback Thursdays: Mr. Wave
This morning I just discovered that there's a new documentary in the works (Wave) about old school b-boy, Mr. Wave. It's important that we remember the roots and pioneers of this culture but I think the thing that pleases me the most is that hip-hop now has grandfathers. People who have been part of the movement since the late 70's/early 80's. I take comfort in the fact that there are now cops, judges, politicians and spiritual leaders who grew up on hip-hop. Dig this teaser and be sure to peep the doc when it drops.
Y'all job just hangin' up coats.
My new mix, Ladies First, is a tribute to the female emcee. From the conscious to the good old fashioned braggadocio, it's all here. All the eras are represented as well - Old School (Queen Latifah, J.J. Fad), Mid School (Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott) and the New School cats (Angel Haze, Nitty Scott). Turn it on, turn it up.
