Feel Good Fridays: T.R.U.T.H.

I like it when I get to help put someone on. In this town I've done my best to give a boost to talent that I believe in. Elsinore, Krukid, Kate Hathaway, Animate Objects, Santah - mentoring, recording demos, putting them on prime shows. It's even more rewarding to see those artists climb and achieve success. Tonight I get to do that again. T.R.U.T.H. is young, smart and hungry. She'll be opening the show tonight and she's worth your time. Dig.

Real Talk Tuesdays: The Joy Pianist

Those of you in the C-U area will probably recognize The Joy Pianist as Dr. Charles Joseph Smith (a fixture in the scene during the first decade of the new millienium). Depsite suffering from autism, Dr. Smith received his doctorate from the U of I and continues to enjoy live performance, dancing and music of every genre. This short doc was filmed by my good friend Kate Hathaway. Real talk? This melts my heart.

Real Talk Tuesdays: 21st Annual Great Cover Up

The 21st Annual Great Cover Up was this past week and I missed the whole damn thing. We were out of town so for only the second time in 11 years, I did not participate. It was fun to check online to see the videos and pics start to pour in after each night. And after watching the highlights from the closing session (Thursday, January 19th) I'm convinced that it was the greatest night in Cover Up history. And I missed it.
