Real Talk Tuesdays: T.R.U.T.H.
My buddy T.R.U.T.H. opened up for Rhymesayers Artist Grieves last night. Couldn't be more proud of her. She's a super skilled emcee and just wants to work hard. Good things lay ahead for sure. Dig this.
Way Gone Wednesdays: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
I met Macklemore (Ben Haggerty) in the spring of 2010. I was in Minneapolis for the Soundset Festival and he had just come off tour with Grieves & Budo. Since then I've been aware of the Seattle emcee, catching bits of tracks here and there on the internet. He eventually teamed up with producer Ryan Lewis and the two of them are making quite a lotta noise, and not just in the Pacific northwest. Macklemore often brings a heavy dose of humor to the rap routine. But unlike traditional camp, he brings the funny with a razor sharp style that makes you appreciate the skill. Dig this brand new cut called "Thrift Shop" (featuring Wanz). This is the very definition of unsigned hype.
Real Talk Tuesdays: K. Flay
My buddy Budo has been touring with Rhymesayers artist Grieves for a few years now. They've been all over the country (and Europe) in support of Atmosphere. Now they're holding down headlining tours of their own. Most recently they brought along an upstart by the name of K. Flay. She's worthy of your time and more sincere then others in the nerdy-white-girl-rap-game (I'm looking at you, Kreayshawn). Dig.
Feel Good Fridays: Grieves & Budo
My buddy Budo has been on the road the past few years with Rhymesayers artist Grieves. He continues to produce beautiful music and remains one of the most genuine, unique characters I know. He and Grieves posted "Pack It Up" on Valentines Day but I think the vibe is perfect for my first Feel Good Fridays post. Dig in.
Budo also had the chance to remix the Blueprint track "So Alive" - gorgeous.
