I recently copped the 1981 Juice Newton album Angel of the Morning - which includes "Queen of Hearts". I LOVED this song in my youth, still do. The production is on point. Crisp claps, slap-back delays. Go ahead, sing along.
So many hits. Such a pimp. Here's a low-quality clip from 1984's Purple Rain. These songs is still great.
At Record Store Day last weekend I copped this 45. I have it on display in my office with the likes of "The Super Bowl Shuffle" and a Pac-Man picture disc. This cut was HUGE. Let's go back to a time when The Fresh Prince was a great storyteller (instead of an overpaid actor). Yup.
In 1978 while most of the world was listening to the Bee Gees, Sun Ra and his Arkestra were getting out there. I mean, all the way out there. Here's "Space is the Place" from The Antique Blacks. Back in '74 he made a super-trippy movie of the same title (peep). Let's get weird, y'all.
Anyone else miss this song? So simple - so groovy. Folk Implosion circa 1995. Dig.
