







Not sure anyone has called this out, but Steve Miller straight up ripped off The Clovers. Their opening lines from "Lovey Dovey" (1954) can be heard in Miller's "The Joker" (1973). But to be fair, "Lovey Dovey" was made famous by The Clovers but originally written by Memphis Edward Curtis and Ahmet Ertegun. Small world.
Not surprisingly, this is not the first time this week I have mentioned this song. Everybody cool it, now.
Super excited to be playing with Toad the Wet Sprocket this weekend. When I was first learning guitar I listened to this album a lot. Particularly this song - which I hope to hear on Saturday.
You may know the Isley Brothers classic "Footsteps in the Dark" from it's sample used in Ice Cube's "Today Was a Good Day". Classic groove. Dig it.
