Throwback Thursdays: The Clovers

Not sure anyone has called this out, but Steve Miller straight up ripped off The Clovers. Their opening lines from "Lovey Dovey" (1954) can be heard in Miller's "The Joker" (1973). But to be fair, "Lovey Dovey" was made famous by The Clovers but originally written by Memphis Edward Curtis and Ahmet Ertegun. Small world.

Throwback Thursdays: New Edition

Not surprisingly, this is not the first time this week I have mentioned this song. Everybody cool it, now.

Throwback Thursdays: Toad the Wet Sprocket

Super excited to be playing with Toad the Wet Sprocket this weekend. When I was first learning guitar I listened to this album a lot. Particularly this song - which I hope to hear on Saturday.

Throwback Thursdays: The Isley Brothers

You may know the Isley Brothers classic "Footsteps in the Dark" from it's sample used in Ice Cube's "Today Was a Good Day". Classic groove. Dig it.

Throwback Thursdays: A Boy Named Sue

We're all familiar with the Johnny Cash version but have you ever heard the original author Shel Silverstein rip through this classic? Dig it.
