Madhouse Mondays: David Sedaris
This past Christmas my wife got a pair of tickets to see David Sedaris from her mother. She has seen him before, I had not - although I have read most of his books. Hearing writers read their own material is a treat most times but Sedaris is the king. His comedic timing and cutting wit are unmatched. When I was touring the country in my Dodge Caravan with a rock band the only audiobooks we listened to were David Sedaris stories. For hours we would howl as he spun tales, one after another. Last night we settled in at the historic Virginia Theatre and let him dazzle us. Here's a clip from him reading at the Village Voice a few years back. Enjoy.
Madhouse Mondays: Pens to Lens
This year, my wife and I participated in the Pens to Lens contest where area students K-12 submit screenplays - some of which are selected and made into short films by area film makers. Outstanding event - a red carpet for the kids - screening at the historic Virginia Theatre. I'll post the films we worked in later but here's the trailer for the event itself. So good.
