Real Talk Tuesdays: Wilco
In the late 90's the alt-country surge was in full swing. My room mate and I listened intently to the likes of The Old 97's, The Blacks and Robbie Fulks - all of whom invoked the twang of yesteryear while pushing forward with the energy of say, Weezer. Uncle Tupelo is another name that came up often - and after splitting caused the formation of both Sun Volt and Wilco. Wilco's first two albums (A.M. and Being There) did little to rouse me but their third effort, Summerteeth, got my attention. Though it wasn't until 2002's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot that I was in love. This album is perfect in every way. Finally copped it on vinyl yesterday. Man. R.I.P. Jay Bennett.
