Throwback Thursdays: Color Me Badd
Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:18AM I had my monthly Old School gig at Red Star last night. I had a group of folks who kept requesting dirty south tunes (Eightball & MJG, Goodie Mob) but I ended up making them dance to Color Me Badd instead. Dig it.
Throwback Thursdays: In the Cooker
Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10:16AM I played my monthly residency at Red Star last night. Old School. One of my favorite things to do is to throw on an original tune and then drop the corresponding hip-hop track that sampled it. I wanted to play Biggie's "Going Back to Cali", which uses the same beat as EPMD's "You Gots to Chill" but in order to play that you have to go back to Zapp & Roger's "More Bounce to the Ounce". So I threw all three in the cooker. Dig.
