Amerigo Gazaway is at it again. How 'bout a James Brown + Fela Kuti mashup? Yes please.
One of my favorite slow cuts from the Doo-Wop era is "Try Me" by James Brown. Such desperation. Feel it.
Tall Black Guy (Terrel Wallace) has just posted his re-working of the James Brown classic, "The Big Payback". Tasty.
Who gave us the first rap song? Most would say it was The Sugarhill Gang with "Rapper's Delight" (1979). Others site Jocko's "Rhythm Talk" (also 1979). But what about James Brown's "America is my Home" (1968)? Or even Hank Snow's "I've Been Everywhere" (1962)?
Discuss.
If this track doesn't jump start your day proper - then you lose. The Fab Four mashed up with The Godfather himself, James Brown. Dig it.
