Throwback Thursdays: Herbie Hancock
Herbie Hancock has been the man for a long, long time. This album, Headhunters, from 1973 is the absolute epitome of cold ass funk. Dig the cut below click here to listen to the entire album. Hot shit.
Throwback Thursdays: Herbie Hancock
Herbie Hancock was (and is) a legendary jazz artist. But in the early 80's he dabled in the electro-sounds of hip-hop eventually creating the classic, "Rockit". "Rockit" was the first song to incorporate scratching - thanks to pioneer Grand Mixer DXT. This song was also the soundtrack to my award-winning b-boy performance at the 1984 Parke County Fair in Rockville, IN. This is the only known picture of that event. I went on to dance at the Indiana State Fair and got my ass handed to me by a five-man crew from Fort Wayne. They were cool as shit though.
