I picked up the reissue of Dr. Octagonecologyst this week. Such a strange but delightful ride. Raps by Kool Keith, beats by Dan the Automator, scratches by Qbert. This one might just top the weirdness charts right here. Halfsharkalligatorhalfman.

Pillowfight is the new project from Dan the Automator and vocalist Emily Wells. Groovy, hip and sultry. I ordered this on vinyl immediately. Delicious.

Way Gone Wednesdays: Dr. Octagon

In this installment of Way Gone Wednesdays we focus on Dr. Octagon (a.k.a. Kool Keith a.k.a Dr. Dooom a.k.a. Black Elvis).  His solo debut, Dr. Octagonecologyst, was both bizarre and brave for 1996.  Dan The Automator (Cornershop, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030) handled production and Keith handled what would become his trademark weirdo sci-fi raps.  Dig.
