Way Gone Wednesdays: Bushwick Bill
Bushwick Bill, the littlest Geto Boy of them all, is the subject of a new documentary (with your help). I met Bushwick in 1999 at a Twista show. Surreal moment. Dig the clip below and donate.

Throwback Thursdays: Geto Boys
Bushwick Bill is a legend. A midget gangster rapper from Jamaica who came to the states and linked up with Scarface and Willie D to form Geto Boys. In high school we were always amused by dirty raps, but Geto Boys brought it to extremes (rape, murder, angel dust). We listened in amazement not thinking about what it might be like to hide such records from our own children someday.
Fast forward to 1998 and I ran into Bushwick Bill at a Twista show (of all places). I told him about listening to his records on the down low as a teen and tried not to stare at his "bad" eye. Kinda surreal.
1990 was my senior year in high school. At 5'4" I handled the point for our basketball team and carried an enormous chip on my shoulder. Before a game against our inter-county rivals, the Rockville Rox, I asked my Latin teacher (yes, I took Latin...and Spanish) to translate "Size Ain't Shit" for me. He rolled his eyes and obliged scribbling "Maxum Non Excretum" - I wrote it on athletic tape and put in on the back of my basketball shoes.
