Throwback Thursdays: Digital Underground

Yesterday Syd and I were talking about current top 40 hip-hop songs.  He referenced both the "Stanky Leg" and "Teach Me How to Dougie".  I said, as much as I hate those songs they're no different than "Da Butt" or "The Humpty Dance".  He looked puzzled - he had never heard of "The Humpty Dance".  I gave him a crash course on Digital Underground and let him hear a few songs, including this one - "Same Song" which was featured in the 1991 movie Nothing But Trouble.  A film that had an overabundance of stars (John Candy, Dan Akroyd, Chevy Chase) but lacked anything resembling worthwhile entertainment.  I remember watching it anyway just to catch a glimpse of Digital Underground (which at that time featured a backup dancer and singer by the name of Tupac Shakur).

Dig.
