I'm no stranger to foreign erotica films. Stories like The Lover or the clever The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover - hell, even caught a few of the Emanuelle series. Last night we watched Blue is the Warmest Color - a tale of a young girl finding her sexuality (surprise) but the highlight for me was Adele Exarchopolous. She was asked to show so much on camera. A shy awkwardness, a vulnerable heterosexual experience, an eager homosexual experience, outward bursts while participating in a teacher's union march and on many occasions, sobbing. Most of the script was treated like an outline and the players were told to improvise most of their scenes. As a result, she became the youngest artist ever to receive the coveted Palme d'Or award in Cannes. Well deserved.
