Most folks know by now that before she was Lana Del Ray, Elizabeth Grant released a record under the name Lizzy Grant. And after what seemed to be an average (and sub-energized) performance on SNL, the entire virtual world was ready to burn her at the stake. Can't say I agree. Let's start with the stage name arguement. No different than Elton John (Reginald Kenneth Dwight), Bob Dylan (Robert Zimmerman), Cee Lo Green (Thomas DeCarlo Callaway) or any rapper on the planet. As for her album, I think it's hypnotic and sexy. Lolita-esque themes with images of pool-side dry humps. I can dig it. Here's the video for her single "Kill Kill" released back in '09.
